Buy a poppy

In between sipping your latte and bitching about how tough life is, buy a poppy. There's a stand around most stations and in busy places. Buy one.

There are no excuses. Nope not even that one.

If you really don't understand why you should buy one - and wear it, I hope Henry Allingham, one of three living veterans of the First World War battlefields, can help you understand: "These hellish memories of war are ones I'd rather forget. But never my comrades. Never the men who gave their everything...All of us must remember them, always."

Ethel, Agnes and Dorothy

Old Ladies Noggins

Three old ladies, Ethel, Agnes and Dorothy are sitting in a cafe, having a chat. Ethel says, "You know, I'm getting really forgetful. This morning, I was standing at the top of the stairs, and I couldn't remember whether I had just come up or was about to go down."

Agnes says, "You think that's bad? The other day, I was sitting on the edge of my bed and I couldn't remember whether I was going to sleep or had just woken up!

Dorothy smiles smugly, "Well, my memory is just as good as it's always been, knock on wood," she says as she raps on the table. Then with a startled look on her face, she asks, "Who's there?"

We love a good coaster/beermat - under-exploited these days surely? Anyway we came across these in a shop the other day, and thought we would share them with you. If anyone can enlighten us as to what DD Q4A is, we'd be most grateful.

No, not that James Brown, this James Brown. An illustrator and printmaker in London with some nice stuff available to purchase from his gallery. He also illustrates under the alias Jim Laurence with a different style. You can see his (Jim Laurence) Eminem illustration in this months 20th Birthday edition of GQ. Which reminds me, it is still October and the new edition of GQ is December, that really bugs me. What happened to November?

Old Mrs. Ross

The quality journal The London Paper featured on it's front page tonight the suspension of Jonathon Ross and Russell Brand from the BBC. But what caught my eye was the picture that accompanied the article. It appears some wag has superimposed Jonathon Ross's head onto the body of a well-dressed elderly lady.

**Update: we've now narrowed it down to being the body of a late 80's era Edwina Currie.
