Sell! Sell! Makes It To Cannes?

We'll be in the Ark Royal, stop by for a drink and naval munitions

As our regular reader will know, we don't much care for the many advertising award schemes on the planet. So how the blazes have we made it to the Cannes Advertising Festival, the veritable crescent wank of advertising awards festivals? Well, the answer is, in typical Sell! Sell! fashion, a different way. In other words, our Straight8 entry Twelve Pies For Twelve Bridges has (amazingly) been selected as one of the eight Best Of An Ad Bunch films, to be shown on Friday 25th June at the Straight8 Cannes Advertising Festival screening. Thanks very much Straight8 people, you are most kind. Hmm, now to find a suitable vessel.

  2. Hello Anonymous commenter. Assuming you meant 'cared', we didn't enter Cannes, we submitted a super8 film we made to the Straight8 competition, a fun short film-making competition. The Straight8 people chose a selection to take to the ad festival. Hope that clears it up for you.

  4. Ha ha don't be silly. We didn't enter Cannes. We entered a short film in the straight8 competition.

  5. But surely you should have stuck your guns and refused to engage with said shallow non-important awards spectacle?

  6. Ah this is where the confusion has arisen kind reader, we didn't enter the cannes festival, but our modest little short film effort has found it's way in via the straight8 short film competition. Which is kind of funny, us being a place that doesn't enter ad awards - which is the point that we tried (and obviously failed) to make in the post. Thanks for reading anyway.

  10. Ha cheers, us too. I guess that's the fun part of Straight8 - you never quite know if you're going to witness to your own catastrophic and very public failure. Makes it interesting though.
