Sounds of the Arcade

Back in November 1982, on a rainy afternoon, two friends in New York started recording sounds from the arcade machines they were playing. Using a Sony Cassette Recorder they kept it up for 6 years. The tapes were forgotten about until the late 90s when 14 of the tapes were rediscovered.

Now all those recordings have been digitised and can be heard here. Over 20 hours of arcade machine nostalgia.

  1. Where do you find this stuff?

I just drowned in the wave of nostalgia I got from Kung Fu Master, Galaga and Donkey Kong.

Are they the same kids? Their voices appear to have changed between 1982 and 1986.
